Launched in 2006, OpenComps is a leading online database tracking completed commercial real estate transactions involving hotel, office, retail, and residential (multi-family) buildings.
OpenComps is aimed at improving the transparency of these transactions through Wikipedia-style sharing and editing of data by OpenComps editors and the community at large.
OpenComps is a sophisticated database that is continually improved upon to better store and display transaction data and statistics. Malicious and fraudulent input of data is continuously monitored and removed. Although, serious effort is put to verify each transaction based on public and private sources, data accuracy is not guaranteed. As the saying goes, trust but verify.
The use of OpenComps is open and free, and can be accessed on an anonymous basis or as a registered user. Only registered users can edit existing or add new transactions. However, viewing all transactional details is limited.
OpenComps also offers a paid Pro Account, which gives registered users full view of all transactional details, advanced search features, data-analysis tools and functionality, including exporting the data in Microsoft Excel© format.
