This new feature can be helpful in few important ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Related<\/strong> tab \u2014 which highlights the chain of transactions that have occurred for a property \u2014 will be more stable, better handling changes to the same property, such as brand updates, street addresses and geo-coordinates.<\/li>\n<li>Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencomps.com\/blog\/2016\/04\/feature-review-advanced-search\/\">Advanced Search<\/a>\u00a0you can now search for a specific OCID. With that \u2014 and using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencomps.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/new-feature-saved-searches\/\">Saved Searches\/Alert<\/a> system \u2014 you can set up an email alerts to notify you of a new transaction for a <em><strong>specific<\/strong><\/em> property.<\/li>\n<li>OCIDs can be used to refer to a specific property between coworkers and friends clearly and efficiently.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OCIDs are alphanumeric with a length of six (6) characters. The first three (3) characters are lowercase letters, while the last three (3) are numbers. For example,\u00a0<strong>xnk080<\/strong> refers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencomps.com\/asset-view.php?id=43231\">11 Howard in New York, NY<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you are contributing to OpenComps \u2014 or entering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencomps.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/opencomps-4-0-private-transactions\/\">your own private entries<\/a> \u2014 you can use the <strong>+Add New<\/strong> wizard as usual. An unique OCID will automatically be created for your new property\/transaction.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to add a transaction for an existing property \u2014 again, either public or private \u2014 locate the last transaction recorded for the property (using simple or advanced search) and use the <strong>+Add Related <\/strong>button on the transaction screen. This will (1) speed up your creation of a new transaction entry by carrying over property details such as street address, number of rooms, brand, etc. and, importantly, (2) preserve OCID and geocoding coordinates.<\/p>\n<p>We already have a few ideas for other exciting new features we could do with OCID, but we would love to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencomps.com\/about.php\">hear from you<\/a> with your ideas and feedback.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we rolled out an update to introduce a new field \u2014 an unique property identifier, which we called OCID.
